What do Mennonites believe about the Bible?

We believe the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and serve as our standard for faith and practice. Our Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Context states, “We believe that God was at work through the centuries in the process by which the books of the Old and New Testaments were inspired and written.”

We seek to understand and interpret scripture in harmony with Jesus Christ as we are led by the Holy Spirit in the church. The two most popular Bible translations for Mennonites are the New International Version and the New Revised Standard Version; however there is no official translation of the Bible for the Mennonite church.
