Dating outside the church

For the most part, there are no problems with Mennonites dating non-Mennonites, particularly if the other person is a Christian. The more conservative groups would be more restrained as far as dating outside the denomination goes, but in the more modern Mennonite church, it’s generally considered a non-issue. As more and more Mennonite youth leave home to attend college or pursue a career, dating outside the Mennonite church happens fairly frequently. Were such a couple to decide to marry, a pastor might counsel them to carefully consider the issue, as any inter-denominational marriage is likely to have some difficulties (such as how children would be raised and where they would choose to go to church). But even in that scenario, such a thing is not forbidden by any means, simply cautioned.
